Prevention over treatment
Water quality, temperature, feeding and the behaviour of the fish are important signals that are monitored throughout the entire production. When the fish have good living conditions and a stable environment, the risk of disease is also reduced.
Because production takes place in freshwater, sea lice are not a challenge. Sea lice are marine parasites that cannot complete their life cycle in freshwater.
Gentle handling
Harvesting, sorting and transport are situations that can cause stress or injury if not carried out correctly. Therefore, handling is carefully planned, using methods and equipment designed to make the process as calm, quick and gentle as possible.
A dignified conclusion
Our own processing vehicle makes it possible to care for the fish in a gentle and controlled manner when it is harvested from the water. The fish is pumped into the vehicle and passed through a water separator before being quickly and effectively stunned with electricity. This reduces stress and ensures the fish is stunned before bleeding is carried out.
After bleeding, the fish is led directly into RSW-chilled water at a temperature of 0°C. The rapid cooling helps to preserve quality all the way until the fish is transported to the slaughterhouse for processing.
